This is colemans 07 version of this product. I have purchased 2 these in the past 2 months. They have some sort of defect with the wiring, causing the plugin to over heat and melt. The last one I returned to the place of purchase and the sales rep said that they get at least 1 returned a week and expects a recall on them in the near future. I have been using coleman for nearly ten years for traveling and this is the first disappointment.

I give this cool one star only because the rating system does not include negative number stars. I used this cooler as a back up when my home refrigerator died. After three days the power plug burned up and partially melted. I bought a replacement plug at Radio Shack that worked fine. Right after that, the cooler power supply got warm and started to emit what smelled like toxic fumes. I used a small fan to try to cool it but all that did was disperse the fumes throughout the house. I replaced the power supply with a heavy duty RV power converter that I got from Camping World. That worked fine until, after two weeks, the cooler itself burned out and emitted what smelled like more toxic fumes. Not only is this cooler a complete waste of money, but the fumes will probably decrease your lifespan.

I have gone though three of these. The first one the inner fan failed within 3 months. Thank God, took it back to Walmart for an exchange. The second one failed after 6 months… inner fan again. Didn’t have the receipt so I couldn’t send it in for warranty… They also don’t sell replacement fans??? The third one failed after 6 months, this time the outer fan… but I had already given the 2nd one to Goodwill for a write off. If they would have spent $5-10 more on decent fans this would have been a nice cooler. Will be buying Igloo from now on.
Now I see they have a newer version out, but I won’t jump

We had our cooler since 2005. We use it to go on trips, shopping, and parties. I am on my 3rd motor, because we use it a lot,so it’s normal wear and tear part. A new motor is only $15 and easy to replace. So don’t throw your cooler way. Which is cheaper,$15 for a new motor or $100 for a new cooler?

I drive truck for a living, in the past there were Igloo coolers that had the same design as this Coleman PowerChill. The Igloo lasted about 2 years of constant running and worked wonderfully! We purchased the Coleman PowerChill and went thru 4 of them in 2 years and finally gave up and went to a Koolatron. The Coleman’s are junk! Don’t waste the time nor the food. There were two of them that didn’t even last 30 days. You have to keep the inside very dry with any 12V cooler, and even with doing that, they froze up. The other two, they just quit cooling. Fan still worked and was cleaned about once a month or so, but it just wouldn’t cool. Don’t waste your time!
